We come to the second to last installment of the early ADP trends over at Mock Draft Central. We take a gander at the Starting Pitchers. So many theories have been bandied about, how this system works and people who don't draft starters till after round so and so. Well it's all well and good in theory, until you start drafting your team. Best advice I can drop on ya is don't chase wins, period. Wins are a wonky stat. So enjoy the pretty little chart and have a nice slice of my analysis afterwards.

The key to any starting pitching is streaming. I use it to my advantage all to much and write about it on other sites. Getting key starts from 2 start guys is the key to victory in any H2H league. Free piece of advice for an advantage to streaming, check the daily betting lines for the games upcoming. The guys who determine that stuff get paid a crap-ton of money to not be wrong and to set odds that look at every facet of the game. So happy drafting and good luck. Question, comments and sentimental hellos are always welcome.

I like it...
I like your method of getting a couple of good SPers after a couple of the first rounds. My question is: have you seen any teams that either hoard elite pitching early in the draft or wait until the last half of the draft to get SPers and whether or not those teams were successful. Thanks!

SP
I have seen both spectrums and the team’s that hoard starting pitching early tend to lack that thumper lineup but still field a respectable lineup maybe thin at one or 2 spots. The latter has a great all around line-up filled withe everything and they take there first SP somewheres around Josh Beckett/Tommy Hanson in the rankings. There SP is god awful but they tend to take RP alot earlier and more frequently.

I made the same choice as you in the FT dynasty league:
Took Cabrera, Bruce, and Santana in 1-3, then got Gallardo and Kennedy in 4-5. Overall, I like this strategy, and feel pretty good about my pitching (I got Wilson, Gonzalez, Floyd, and Danks as my other SPs). I think it is a great strategy for getting a balanced line-up.

Where you take any position, including SP........
Depends almost entirely on the league settings.

Betting odds are not made to be predictive
They’re made to induce betting.

Huge bull's-eye on Brandon Beachy at that ADP
Solid ratios, flashed big time k potential and most importantly he was consistent. What’s not to like? Just don’t start him at Coors (along with 95% of the rest of pitchers).

Adam Wainwright
What’s your thoughts on Adam Wainwright for this year? I think he’s a huge bargain given that’s he’s being drafted as the #30 pitcher.
He has the potential to be a top 10 pitcher if he returns to form. Honestly I think he’s less of an injury risk than Tommy Hanson or Josh Johnson. And I think he’s likely to be on less of an innings cap than Strasburg. It doesn’t seem right to me that Wainwright’s going 30 picks lower than Strasburg.
