With pitchers and catchers reporting as soon as this weekend, Ray, Robert and I will be taking a look at our position rankings again, and Marc will be releasing his tiered rankings as well. You can keep up with all of Fake Teams' ranks via our Google Docs spreadsheet:
Fake Teams 2012 Fantasy Baseball Ranks
These shortstop ranks are for a standard 5x5 mixed league. I've included 30 players, followed by a few brief explanations, especially where there are deviations from previously published ranks, which can be found here (mixed league) and here (league-specific). I produced my fantasy prospect rankings for SS, which can be found here as well. Kevin has also published second base ranks for head-to-head points leagues, which can be found here.

Drew
there is some concern as to when he will be healthy this season. I might drop him a few spots as a result.

After reading Buster Olney's column today
Him and Dee Gordon might both need to be down a couple of spots – there seems to be speculation that Gordon doesn’t have a lock on the job, which seems really odd to me.

I doubt that
very much. The article ended saying the patchwork that would be involved to replace him wouldn’t be pretty. I think the writer was talking about a “what if” scenario", but Gordon really doesn’t have anyone competing against him.

You have Rollins
and As Cab above Starlin?
As Cab is the definition of “regression” and Rollins is on the decline of his career.
And Drew above Gordon seems suspect.

Just bc
one player is going up and the other is going down doesn’t mean the one going up is automatically higher. As for Asdrubal I’m glad to see someone put him over Castro. I think he deserves it big time and in recent yahoo mocks I usually see Castro go more than 30 spots higher than Asdrubal! I love Castro, but that is just too much.
